Helen has an undergraduate degree in Business Management from Georgia College and graduated in 1989.  She attended Georgia State University and earned both a Master’s and a Specialist Degree in School Counseling in 1992 and 1995, respectively. Additionally, she became a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Georgia in 2006.  She graduated from the University of West Georgia with an EdD in Professional Counseling and Supervision in 2011.  In 2019, Helen began an 18-month training collaborative with Georgia State University and the Center for Adoption Support and Education (CASE) called Training for Adoption Competency (TAC), specializing in training clinicians to work in a therapeutic relationship with adults and children who are a part of the adoption triad (biological parents, adopted children and adults, and adoptive parents).  The training was an eye-opening experience for her as counselor as well as an adoptive mother.

Helen has worked with adolescents for 30 years and truly enjoys supporting adolescents as they traverse through difficult times in their lives.  Helen’s area of specialty is using her skill set of working with adolescents and their families as well as with adults and children in the adoption triad.
