Men, married or single, are struggling. They strive to connect in their marriages and with their loved ones, yet keep falling short. Work is stressful, and balancing the demands of career, family, and life seems impossible. The pressures of performance and productivity can be crippling. Some are overwhelmed by thoughts of the future, not clear on their purpose or direction in life. Others are confused by their role as a man in our current culture, unsure of what it means to be a man, a husband, a father, a leader, a provider. Being a single man brings its own challenges, and dating is tougher than ever. All of this brings pain, and many are also suffering from hurt in their past. Men cope with these issues by turning to addiction, pornography, overworking, drinking, gambling, and more, staying silent due to feelings of being inadequate or ashamed.

Marriages are hurting, too. Unable to really connect, couples are stuck in old patterns, saying the same things yet not making any progress, and some are experiencing betrayals. Communication is hard, and this brings intimacy issues as well. Parenting is difficult, and many marriages are unsure of who should do what, both in the home and for the family. Couples cope by staying quiet and avoiding the real issues, keeping them disconnected as years go by.
